WiSDA History

The Women in Science Diplomacy Association (WiSDA) was founded in February of 2023, with the leadership of three female science counsellors from the Embassies of France, Germany, and Italy.

Since its founding, WiSDA grew its membership to 100+ females working at the intersection of science and diplomacy in Washington, D.C. Its global reach is exemplified by 600+ members on its social media platform LinkedIn, with members from all corners of the world, gathering more than 2K+ post impressions weekly.

A science diplomacy ecosystem enriched by a wide range of perspectives—where individuals at all career stages with talent, drive, and expertise have opportunities to contribute, connect, and lead on the world stage. WiSDA serves as a connector, catalyst, and convener, bringing people and ideas together to advance science diplomacy worldwide.

• Mentor and support early-career professionals entering the field of science and science diplomacy;

• Promote the presence and recognition of scientists and researchers in global science and technology policy conversations;

• Strengthen professional networks among science diplomats in Washington, DC, and around the world;
